Caitlin
Mosley
Born
in Minden, La, 11 year old Caitlin Mosley started in the martial arts,
at Ultimate “My instructor was Mr. Gonzales, I really enjoyed class
and all the other kids,” remembers Caitlin.
Currently a 2nd degree Black Belt in
TKD, she remembers how excited and proud she was to get her Black Belt
in 2002. “It takes a lot of hard work to get your black belt and with
my parents and instructors help I worked to earn it.”
One of the top seeded competitors in the NASKA
circuit, Caitlin loves to compete in traditional and musical divisions
for forms and weapons. Her first tournament, like so many others, was a
local event. “My first tournament was at Poff’s in April 2001 in
Pensacola, Florida and I was a green belt. I did one event which was
traditional forms and I placed first.”
This was only the start as she is still placing first a lot in
the traditional forms and weapons divisions in the local and NASKA
tournaments.
Not
only is Caitlin a strong individual competitor, she tried out for the
K.I.C.K. (Kicking In Christ Kingdom) Team this year and made it in
January. “I have wanted to be on the KICK Team since I first saw them.
The part I enjoy most is being part of a team where everybody cheers for
everybody else.” says Caitlin. “I think my greatest accomplishment
is getting on the KICK Team.” It won’t be her last greatest
accomplishment.
Like most strong competitor, Caitlin doesn’t take
a lot of credit for her own success saying instead,” I was lucky
someone thought I had the talent and the martial arts plays a major role
in my life. I want to thank Mr. Won for helping me get where I am now
and for letting me join the KICK Team. Another person I want to thank is
my coach Jonathan Boyd for pushing me and not letting me give up or
giving up on me. Also I want to thank Mr. Marcel Jones and Ms. Amy Won
for my kicks. Last I would like to thank my parents. My mom for
encouraging me when I had trouble and my dad for being like a coach at
home.”
Talent plus training, a positive attitude and the
spirit to win, the desire to share and help others combine to make
Caitlin Mosley a fine example of a martial artist and someone whom we
are all proud of on the KICK Team.
