Hunter
Crain

Alpharetta,
GA- Hunter Crain is 11
years old, and has been in the martial arts for 4 years.
At age 7, Hunter began taking American-style karate in Atlanta,
GA. He quickly found his
shyness replaced with a confidence that came as he taught younger
students in class. Teaching
was Hunter’s gift, and he often took time out of his own training to
work with his younger siblings and other students in the studio…given
many responsibilities that were usually given to adults.
After showing some interest in weapons, particularly the bo
staff, Hunter began training with national champions, Alecia Sipes and
Elizabeth Sipes, in 2002. Within
3 months, he was approached by world champion weapons/forms competitor
Jonathon Boyd. Under Mr.
Boyd’s training, Hunter
quickly advanced in ability and form.
Hunter began competing just one year ago, in 2003, and within
this short time, he went form placing 4th and 5th
in 10/11 underbelt weapons to taking a Grand Championship win in
November of 2003.

In 2004, Hunter began working with traditional goju ryu master, Arturo
Espina and his daughter, world champion Jennifer Espina where he
received excellent training in both creative and traditional weapons. These
days, Hunter is working with his coaches, champion, Terri Jacoby, and
champion Jon Boyd, and competes on the world circuit in black belt
creative and traditional weapons and sparring.
He will soon be competing in traditional and creative forms
divisions.
In addition to doing many community
service events including demonstrations and speaking engagements to
inner city schools, girl/boy scouts clubs, and churches, Hunter, along
with his sponsor, Elite Tactical Sources, also help start the Fellowship
of Christian Martial Artists who meet during the tournaments to
encourage others and provide a Christian, social environment.
Hunter represents his sponsor
Elite Tactical Sources as a member of the ETS National Competition Team.
