Julie Salvato

Julie started studying martial arts at the age of seven. She has worked hard through years at the Huards Dojo and on the competitive circuit as a member of Huards Karate School and the Huard's Sport Karate Team. She competed and won her first trophy as a white belt setting the stage for a determined young girl. At times she just wanted to get more trophies than her brother but eventually she enjoyed the spirit that the martial arts encouraged along with the camaraderie of working with other members of the Huards Dojo. 

Patience, discipline, self reliance and self control have been stressed through teachings at the dojo. Julie went on to successfully compete against martial artists from Maine as well as New England and internationally, often placing first in kata and fighting. She captured the state championship the past two years in the advanced division. Interests in other sports and high school activities did not sway her from her goal of becoming a black belt. After 5 years of working in the brown belt degree system she took the challenging black belt test before heading off to the University of Maine to study business management and marketing.
