By Reporter Mark Huard

Kyle
first got interested in Martial Arts when he was 4 years old. He used to
watch those old Bruce Lee movies with his dad.
Kyle used to sit in front of the TV all day and watch and watch
as much as he could. He was addicted to those martial arts movies.
Kyle
asked his Mom & Dad if he could go to Karate class and see if he
liked it. They told him he could try it out. That’s how Kyle got into
the Martial Arts.

His
first style was Traditional American Karate in Santee,California (next
to San Diego). His Instructor was Master Floyd Burk. He writes articles
for Black Belt Magazine. Kyle got his Black Belt in Trad Am Karate. Then
he moved to Folsom and got involved in Folsom Karate Academy. The style
there is called Bok Foo. His instructor is Mr. Adam Hamlin. Kyle
currently has a green belt in that style and is now working and training
towards his Black Belt. One
of Kyle’s major goals in Martial Arts before he dies, Is to get
three certified Black Belts. He is currently a Green Belt in Bok Foo.
Kyle
started Competing when he was 6 and still competes now. He goes to
almost all Naska tournaments and does quite well. Kyle competes in
Musical Forms, Extreme Forms, Traditional Wapons, Creative Forms, and
Traditional Forms. Kyle has only been doing sport karate for 18 months.
Kyles sport karate instructor is Anthony Atkins and really admired him
for his great expertise and skill in the martial arts and acrobatics.
Kyle says that Anthony picks you up and power bombs you at hotels before
tournament days.
Kyle
aggress that overall Martial Arts has taught him a valuable lesson that
nothing else could teach him. “I think that every single person should
do martial arts.”
