Alejandro Da Silva
Alejandro began his karate adventure in1999, at
Oceanside Martial Arts in Narragansett, RI under the
instruction of Lois Riess and her son Neil Riess, Jr. He joined Oceanside's Demonstration Team, "Team
Lightning", which has performed in several local
events including a special presentation at the 2000
State of the Arts Karate Championships.

He is also a
member of the SWAT team which helps with class
teaching especially teaching the younger children.In 2001, Alejandro began to take interest in the
competition team and with the help of his instructors
he began training. He participated in a few
tournaments at first coming in only as a finalist. But
he was hooked. He wanted to win. At the State of the
Arts Tournament in October 2001, Alejandro won his
very first Place ever participating as an under belt in
the weapons division.

During 2002, Alejandro participated in several other
tournaments, if he didn't win, you were sure to find
him among the top four. He ended the year on a high
note winning the Krane National Championship I Weapons
and coming in as a Bronze medallist in Open Forms.2003 has been Alejandro's first full year of
competition in the Krane Circuit. With only a few
tournaments left , Alejandro is currently rated #1 in
both Open Forms and Weapons, not only State but he is also the Overall leader in his age group.
Alejandro is a 7th grader student at Mgr. Matthew F. Clarke School in Wakefield, RI. His favorite subjects
are.. He was recently chosen to be a member of the school's basketball team. He also enjoys tennis,
movies and hanging out with friends.
"I would like to be considered a role model not only because of my accomplishments but also because of the
discipline, perseverance, dedication and hard work involved. I also expect the the
self-discipline, confidence and leadership I have learned through karate will be helpful in every other aspect of my
life now and in the future."
