Sarah: "Thank you so much Chrissy for giving
KarateAngels.com this exclusive interview! Our readers have been looking forward
to it for a long time! The one question kids want to know is, how does
it feel to be a world champion?"
Chrissy
Concepcion: "It
feels awesome! I feel that after competing and training after so long and so
hard, I finally accomplished what I originally set out to do."
Sarah :
"That's beautiful...so many of the kids that visit the site are girls.
Your name always comes up when speaking of role models. Since you're famous for
doing tricks and not many girls do. What do you think about that? I mean, how does
it feel to know millions of kids look up to you as a role model? It must be a great
feeling?"
Chrissy
Concepcion: "I think
that its awesome-especially for all of the young girls out there. When they see
someone who can do it, they can think that they can do it too. It feels really
good to be looked up to by little girls especially when you are one of the few
female tricksters on the martial arts circuit. I’m happy to set some sort
of goal for the upcoming female competitors."

Sarah :
"Like, everybody should have one, who is
your role model?"
Chrissy
Concepcion: "Lauren
Kearney, she's been a big inspiration
to me thank you Lauren!"
Sarah :
"Way cool...So when did
you first become interested in martial arts?
Who got you started?"
Chrissy
Concepcion: "My mom
had me start karate when I was 5 because she felt that I needed someone else in
addition to her to teach me the meaning of discipline and responsibility. Once I got older going to karate wasn't a chore anymore, I really began to enjoy
it, and now it's my life!"

Sarah:
"Where will you compete, and what's your favorite tournament?"
Chrissy
Concepcion: "I
usually compete in the NASKA and IKC circuits and any other tournaments
that I can make it to. Ummmm I think my favorite tournaments so far have been
the Bluegrass Nationals and the Diamond Nationals."
Sarah:
"What's
your training routine like? Do you train every day?"
Chrissy
Concepcion: "Before I
broke my leg last month, I was training almost everyday. I compete in 6
divisions so I need to work on different things: I work on weapons and forms 4
times a week, sparring once or twice a week, and I go to gymnastics at least
once a week."
Sarah:
"Ouch! sorry to hear about your leg. I hope you get better soon for sure...I
know that to
stay in the top rankings you have to train with the best instructors. Who do
you train with when you're not injured?"
Chrissy
Concepcion: "My Open
Forms coach is Marcel Jones from team DS. My Traditional forms coach is Master
Young Won from the Kick Team. My Bo coach was Elizabeth Jones (of Team Charlie
Lee) until she sadly moved to Virginia. I also used to train with Anthony Atkins
for the Kamas until he moved away. I usually train with Nicole Provost of Team
Sidekick, Samantha Thoreson, also of Team Sidekick, Tee Covington, and anyone
from the Kick Team or the Wolf Pack team. For sparring, I train with Pro Rank."
Sarah:
"That's an impressive group of teachers! Probably the best in the world! So
which
Demo Team are you on?"
Chrissy Concepcion:
"I’m not in any right now. I used to be a member of the
World Champion team Excellence."
Sarah:
"Who's
your fav martial artist?"
Chrissy
Concepcion: "Marcel
Jones in Open Forms and Ross Levine in Weapons. They're about the best"

Sarah:
"Yes they are! What are
your fav things to do for fun when you're not training in martial arts?"
Chrissy
Concepcion: "I enjoy
swimming, gymnastics, and running in some of my spare time." My school work
manages to keep me busy."
Sarah:
"How are you doing in
school are you able to fit it all in and still get good grades?"
Chrissy
Concepcion: " For me. School
has always come first, no matter what I'm doing. So unless I am done with my
schoolwork, I can't do anything else non-school related."
Sarah:
"Will you
come to visit our chat room and chat with your fans at KarateAngels.com?"
We'd love to have you visit anytime!"
Chrissy
Concepcion: "Oh
definitely! In fact I think I have been there before! I'd be happy to do a
guest spot anytime!"
