Martial Arts Compliments Life
Local Fairfield Maine Athlete Achieves last ranking Brown Belt
By Reporter Mark Huard of Huard's Martial Arts

Jeremy Caron
Nine years ago, a five year old named Jeremy Caron was preparing to enter kindergarten. Jeremy's parents, Jeffrey and Linda Caron, also decided at this time to enroll Jeremy into Huard's Ju-Jitsu Karate School for martial arts training with the hopes of building Jeremy's confidence and self esteem.
Jeremy was shy and unsure of himself at first, but over time you could see him gain more confidence. A year and half later, not only was Jeremy taking karate, he was involving himself with other sports activities at school. He started playing baseball, basketball and football. Over the years he has become and amazing young athlete in and out of school. He also enjoys snowboarding, hunting, fishing, and of course still continues with his martial arts training.
Jeremy said" martial arts keeps me in good shape both mentally and physically for the other sports I am involved with. It keeps me out of trouble and helps me understand that one should not fight for no reason. You must keep your grades up in school and study hard to stay on the school teams and that takes a lot of focus." Jeremy has maintained high honors since the fourth grade.
On Friday May 19, 2006 Jeremy worked hard to achieve the last degree on his brown belt in both Ju-Jitsu and Karate at Huard's Martial Arts in Winslow. This is not an easy achievement. There is a lot of preparation before taking this test both mentally and physically. Jeremy stated, "learning the Japanese terms was challenging and the test was physically demanding but I gave it my all."
Jeremy is now 14 and entering Fairfield High School where he plans to continue with the school sports and karate along with maintaining his high grades. His goals are to earn his Black Belt in the martial arts and earn a baseball scholarship for college as well.
When I asked Jeremy to describe himself he said, "I want to have fun and do whatever it takes to achieve my goals."
