NICOLLE
“NIKKI” PROVOST

Born in Norton, Mass,
Nikki and her family now live in the Atlanta, Georgia area. Nikki Provost is more
than a top NAKSA competitor; she is deeply tied to her faith, an honors
student and a classic violinist. As the First Chair Violin for the
school orchestra, she was selected to represent them at the All-State
Auditions in January of this year.
Like her skills with a Bo staff,
Nikki has received honors in academics as well taking advanced courses
in Language Arts, Mathematics and Social Studies.

Currently a second
degree Black Belt, Nikki got involved in the martial arts at the age of
five when she started training at Personal Best Karate with Ms. Tracy,
her instructor. Nikki is now a teaching student at Joe Corley's American
Karate.
Nikki also trains
with Mr. Won in Phenix City, Alabama and is a member of the 2003 NASKA
World Tour winning K.I.C.K. (Kicking In Christ Kingdom) Team. Nikki
spends a lot of weekends in Phenix City training and attends both of the
special training camps held by Mr. Won each year.

Nikki entered her
first tournament as a brown belt in 1999 at The Battle of Atlanta. Nikki
laughs and when she recalls it, “ummm… don’t think I placed. I’m
trying not to remember.” Four years later she won the Grand
Championship with her traditional form at the same tournament; a moment
of excitement and one of the two things she claims as the highlights of
her martial arts competition, getting on the K.I.C.K. Team was the
other. It took a lot of hard work, training and determination to get to
that win.
At the 2004 US Open,
Nikki won the NASKA overall Grand and went on to win the ISKA World
Championship in girl’s creative weapons. One of the most prestigious
tournaments of the year, the ISKA finals are shown on ESPN television.
She says is
particularly grateful to her family who make sacrifices in their lives
for her to train and compete, to Ms. Tracy, Jason Olson and Joe Corley
for their help and most especially, Mr. Won, Ms. Amy Won and Jon Boyd
for all their support and guidance.
Even has she has
grown in the martial arts, someone who is a top seeded competitor, has
been figured in magazines and martial arts sites, Nikki has maintained
her humble spirit.
As Nikki put it, “Martial arts’ training is a big
part of my like, if I didn’t do martial arts I don’t know what I
would be doing. Martial Arts have helped me become less shy more
confident and more out going. The people I meet have showed me love and
support; it’s like my other family.” That is “One big family
……” she giggles.
