Amy
Winehouse and Lily Allen
It would take a brave man to date Brit brats Amy Winehouse and Lily
Allen. But it would
take an even braver man to dump either of them.

Cole Massie
"Cole grasped and excelled at the mental and spiritual essence
of karate!
"For hours, Cole would sit in his wheelchair in his room
watching pirate movies on TV and practicing karate moves to
help the good guys win, says his mother, Michelle Massie. For
his 9th birthday, he wanted only one thing, he told her. Real
karate lessons. For weeks, Michelle called every karate
instructor in the Yellow Pages only to hear the same answer...

Ken Min
by Jesse
Hamlin, Chronicle Staff Writer
Ken Min was 15 when he escaped by foot from North Korea,
artillery shells exploding in the distance, during the January 1951
retreat of U.N. forces during the Korean War. He settled in Inchon, South
Korea, with his older brother's family. Min helped feed them at times by
competing in ssirum, traditional Korean wrestling. "If you won at
ssirum they gave you a sack of rice. If you did really well, they gave you
a cow,'' Min recalls with a laugh. The UC Berkeley martial arts master
never won a cow, but he became so good at wrestling and other martial arts
that he was tapped to teach judo to special forces at the South Korean
military academy. copyright San Francisco Chronicle

Judo
is a Sport and a Martial Art

Judo is an official Olympic
sport; it was added in 1964, when Tokyo played host to The Games. Judo as
a Paralympic
event was added in 1988. Paralympic Judo events are for visually impaired
contestants and the rules only very slightly from normal Olympic Judo.
Almost every Nation belonging to the United Nations has a judo
team…and in terms of volume judo is second only to soccer
on the global scale.
Many Special Forces, Military and Police Forces
around the world include judo, along with other martial arts in there
training to keep them safe. Judo has been practiced by police in Japan
since 1886 when the Tokyo Police Department sponsored a competition
between the then new Kodokan
Judo School and older Ju-jitsu schools. There's even a judo kata form
for it… "Renkoho Waza" - Judo Arresting Techniques.
