 Many of you have seen the US OPEN  broadcasted on ESPN. An event that is one of oldest Karate Tournaments in the US dating back to the early 70's.  It is currently the largest Martial Arts event of the year with over 3,500 competitors from all over the World......and you must be "selected" to compete for the Overall ISKA World Championships on the prestigious US Open Night of Champions . The US Open Nighttime of Champions has been by invitation only for over 30 years!

Karate camp teaches kids respect, control GARY MOORE / The Star Learning the moves: Seven-year-old Zachary Myers practiced a move with instructor Blair Woodall during karate camp. "We use a great deal of encouragement in the program," Woodall said. "But they have to earn it." Learning how to block, kick and punch during a weeklong karate camp at the Brownsburg Community and Recreation Center was the perfect summer activity for 6-year-old Brownsburg resident Kyle Allen.

MWR Karate Programs Kicks Up Fun For Kids

Sensei Daniel Benaitis teaches karate to students at the MWR Mayport Youth Activities Center. The martial arts program is open to children from 5 and up. "Finesse, with triumph over ferocity."
